CONTAINMENT STUDY 08

Behavioral Geometry

behavioral geometry walnut channel tufted loungechair

A contoured seat shaped to hold the body in place.

The chair is formed by two sculpted walnut sides that cradle a continuous upholstered interior. The channels run uninterrupted from front edge to backrest, tightening the curvature so the body settles inward rather than simply leaning back.

The reduced width and deeper arc create a more contained posture. The form gently surrounds the sitter, allowing comfort without excess softness.

The walnut panels are hand-shaped and softened along their edges, providing structure while maintaining warmth to the touch. A recessed metal base lifts the chair slightly from the floor, giving visual lightness to the enclosed volume.

Each channel is individually formed and compressed to maintain definition over time while distributing pressure across the seat and back.

Sitting feels supported and secure — a chair suited for quiet occupation and extended conversation.

Designed as a personal counterpart within the collection — more intimate in scale while consistent in language.
