SUPPORT STUDY 07

Behavioral Geometry

behavioral geometry channel tufted ottoman orange brass base

A compressed upholstered volume lifted within a continuous frame.

The ottoman is formed as a single padded mass defined by evenly spaced vertical channels. The surface reads as one object rather than a cushion, allowing the piece to function as both seating and spatial marker.

A continuous metal base traces the perimeter, lifting the volume slightly from the floor. The contrast between the dense upholstered body and the thin structural ring gives the piece a sense of suspension despite its weight.

Each channel is individually formed and layered to maintain definition over time while allowing gradual softening with use. The proportions support multiple orientations — approached from any side without hierarchy.

Used for sitting, resting, or gathering, the piece adapts to the room rather than directing it.

Designed as a grounding element — a soft block that stabilizes surrounding furniture while remaining visually light.
